Out with the old, in with the new...

WOW. Finally, updating after a crazy/ busy week. Last week I spent the majority of my time getting everything ready for our garage sale. So glad that's over with! Way too stressful. No offense to my people, but if there's a price tag on something don't give me the ¿!Cuánto cuesta?! lol We got rid of so much stuff, but unfortunately we still have WAY too much!! My child has way too many toys, and I have a serious problem. On the bright side though, I was able to meet our new neighbor from across the street. She's very young and sweet, and has a little boy! Hopefully, she doesn't think I'm stalking her, but Jake really needs a new friend. Honestly, so do I! lol On Friday evening, Granny invited us to Legoland with her and Jacob. Wow. That place is so neat!! Jake loved it and I'm seriously thinking about doing his 3rd birthday party there. I told myself I wasn't going to do another big party again, because last year was so stressful, but Legoland is just too cool! On Saturday we finally wrapped up the garage sale and headed to Frisco with my mom and sister. We decided we wanted to try In-N-Out burger and go by Ikea. We ended up going to Dave and Busters after realizing we didn't want to wait for three hours. I just love Dave and Busters. It's like the adult version of Chuck E. Cheese. I didn't have to chase Jake around making sure he wasn't taking anyone's balls from ski ball or stealing any tickets! I could actually have a drink and play whatever games I wanted! Then I got to pick a special prize that didn't include a bouncy ball or plastic spider! Me and my sister had a blast! After a fun-filled time at D&B, we finally made it to Ikea, Hallelujah!! I get really excited about this place. I could literally spend ALL day in that store, unfortunatley I was limited to only two measley, little hours. Originally, I had wanted to go to look for a toy box of some sort. I ended up getting a small part of a storage/wall unit that I'll eventually add on to. So far, I love it! After an exhausting day, my sister and I were still not done and decided to go see Bridesmaids with Lauren. Such a hilarious movie!! I could probably go see it again several times! After our crazy week and weekend, I can finally report that I have a fully potty trained little boy!! No more pull-ups...woohoo! Jake's really excited to go pick out new underwear! lol

The good, the bad, the ugly....

Well,
I've come to the conclusion that I'm terrible at this blogging thing. Hopefully, I'll get a little better. It's hard to find time to update with a hyper 2 1/2 year old bouncing off the walls! So, now that Jake is finally out for the night, I'd thought I'd do a little update. When I started this blog, I never intended for it to come off as a blog to showcase my perfect, little family. In fact I wanted to do the complete opposite. Sometimes staying at home all day, every day with a toddler gets old and you gotta vent! Since, the hubby is gone I thought I'd start a blog to write the good, the bad, and the ugly about being an army wife and mother of an almost 3 yr old-yikes!! Let's face it... life ain't perfect, and if you think it should be then good luck! Life is crazy, messy, terrible, wonderful, and so much more. Sorry getting on a rant, but I'm not here to prove anything or to create an image that fits in with what I think is socially acceptable. With that said, A LOT has happened in the past month! It's been very bittersweet, but mostly bitter. Eric is now in Afghanistan, where he'll be for a year. Some days are good for me, but somedays aren't so good. I try to stay positive and as busy as I can. However, sometimes if I have too much idle time or if Jake is especially crazy, then it hits me that my husband is going to be gone ANOTHER year. Eric joined the army about a year ago, and since he's been gone we've been able to spend all together about a month with each other. We've had plenty of dates via skype and have been able to communicate pretty often, but sometimes after a long day you just want to be able to be kick back, watch a movie, and cuddle on the couch with your significant other. When Eric finally gets back from this deployment, it will be almost two years that we've been apart from each other. People ask what it's like being married, and honestly I have no idea. I can't wait until the day that we're finally together again as a family in our OWN home. The count down is on!! Some of the sweeter parts of this past month are the two new additions to our family. We now have a dog, Hamp, and a cat, Chloe. If it was up to me, I would rescue all the homeless cats and dogs I could, but I'm not sure my family would appreciate that. My mom likes to call me snow white, because ever since I was little I've always brought new pets home in attempts to rescue them and give them a better life. In my defense though, it was my grandma who brought the dog home this time. Both are very sweet pets that we adopted from friends and family. It feels good to have pets again, since our dog and cat passed away last year. RIP Sally and Wendy- we love & miss you! Swear I'm not a crazy cat/dog lady! HA. Jake absolutely loves our new pets! Chloe, adopted from my best friend's sister-Lindsey, is very sweet, but has a bit of a cattitude sometimes (when she likes to make an appearance)! On the other hand though, I think Jake has a new best friend. Hamp, our half blue heeler/half red heeler, is great with Jake and even plays in the sand box with him. Well, more like he lets Jake pour sand all over him-he's a good sport. Hamp came from my family's farm. He was the runt out of all the dogs and was pretty much picked on and bullied by all of the other dogs (two being territorial WOLF dogs-poor thing!) My cousin practically begged my grandma to take him with her, so he wouldn't be killed by the others. So, Hamp is a little shy, but very sweet. However, being that he's been on a farm for the past two years, he's never been on a leash or worn a collar. We're in the process of getting him use to both! Here's some pics of the last month and of our new family members!

Leaving on a jet plane...

So, last week we got the news that Eric would in fact be deploying with his unit to Afghanistan. Even after he was told he wouldn't be deploying so he could work on a re-assignment. That's the army for you though! So of course we booked two tickets to fly out to Hawaii to see Eric as soon as possible before he leaves for a year. I'm very excited to go to Hawaii again and see Eric, but flying with a two-year-old for several hours not so much....Hopefully, Jake will give mommy a break tomorrow and be a good boy...ha I can only pray!
Jake decked out in his Thomas gear! Day Out With Thomas in Grapevine was so much fun!

Here it goes...

Well, I've been thinking about creating a blog for awhile now, and now that I have a little free time on my hands I thought why not!? I thought in the event that we ever move and aren't close to everyone, that this would help family and friends know what's going on in our lives! Since Eric's stationed in Hawaii right now and still possibly deploying, we're staying right here in Fort Worth. However, he's still working on a re-assignment to somewhere closer to Tx, so keep your fingers crossed! Gotta love the Army, you just never know what's gonna happen! Eric went back to Oahu on Sunday, but the past two weeks Eric was on leave. While he was here we got to spend a lot of time together as a family, which doesn't happen too often. Eric's been gone for about nine months now and every little bit of time we have together we really try to make the most out of it. While he was here we celebrated my birthday, our 6 month anniversary, and a family trip to Disney World! We had a great time and can't wait to take Jake back when he's a little older. Jake loved it, but he's about three inches too short for the really "fun" rides! We're also planning a trip to Hawaii to visit Eric in the next month or two. Here's few pictures from our trip to Disney World...
